A Short History of Our Club

The QUT Shorinji Kempo Martial Arts Club was founded 15 years ago in 1987 by Sensei Dr Andy Tan.  Dr Andy Tan is still the current Branch Master and has obtained the rank of 4th Dan black belt .  One of the original students has achieved the rank of 3rd Dan black belt, whilst two of the original students have obtained the rank of 2nd Dan black belt.  Several have been able to achieve black belts including three more students this year: Rachael, Phong, and Smick.  Due to the club's location, the majority of club members are QUT students, or past QUT students.  This has meant that the face of our club has and always will show continual change.  Today we have approximately 60 Kenshi with 30 student members and 30 associate members.
